SMOKERS ARE REJOICING: Lime Juice Can Effectively Help You Quit Smoking - Here's How!



For those smokers who are finding it difficult to quit smoking, we have good news for you!

The Srinakharinwirot University’s Department of Medicine in Thailand conducted a new study that has found the usefulness of using fresh lime to suppress smoking urges as compared to nicotine gum.

The test subjects were regular smokers who were willing to quit and end smoking, each one of them received either nicotine gum or fresh lime. Smoking reduction was tested by measuring the amount of exhaled carbon monoxide.

Through the use of a visual analogue scale, the severity of craving was also calculated.

Lime has many benefits that include alkalinizing the tissues that are more acidic in smokers.  It also has strong antimicrobial properties against multiple strains of E. coli and stopping the survival of Vibrio Cholera.

The results showed that during the 4th week, there was higher abstinence among those who took fresh lime. Fresh lime takers also had less intense cravings compared to their nicotine gum counterparts.

Ingredients:
  • One lemon
  • One lime
  • One cup of water
  • One teaspoon sugar
  • Ice cubes
 Directions:
  1. Slice the lemon and lime and squeeze all the juice out.
  2. Put the juice in a jar and add once cup of water and a teaspoon of sugar.
  3. Add the ice cubes and stir well. Serve.
