We grew up believing that hand sanitizer should be within arm’s reach to protect yourself and kids from lurking germs.
Hand sanitizers seem like the perfect to stay clean and disinfect on the go and don't seem to have downside. Unfortunately, there are some hidden secrets lurking in supposedly "clean" hand sanitizers that will lead to trouble with regular and repeated use.
Antibiotics are effective against bacteria. But the triclosan present in sanitizers contribute to making bacteria resistant to antibiotics.
2. Alcohol Poisoning
Some products uses alcohol, which is more effective as a sanitizer and is safer for human health than triclosan. However, products with a high alcohol content can pose a serious danger in homes where children live
3. Hormone Disruption
Triclosan may lead to hormonal disruptions and cause bacteria to adapt to its antimicrobial properties, which create more antibiotic-resistant strains.
4. Weaker Immune System
Studies have shown that triclosan can also harm the immune system, which protects your body against disease.
5. Toxic Chemicals
If your hand sanitizer is scented, then it's likely loaded with toxic chemicals. Companies aren't required to disclose the ingredients that make up their secret scents, and therefore generally are made from dozens of chemicals.
